I just want to thank you so much for being there for me throughout the whole college application process. I came into it so confused and intimidated but you helped to alleviate the stress and make it much more fun than expected. Thank you for valuing me, my personality and helping me accurately showcase it in my application. I think it was key in helping me get to the place I am today. You enabled me to dig deeper into my biggest qualities and values in a way that I couldn’t have done alone.

I have to sincerely thank you for helping me with the process! With you, writing the essays did not even feel like work. It was also much less stressful than it would have been otherwise. You’re the best!

We can’t thank you enough for all the work, insight and troubleshooting you provided for J this year. We are really happy with her going to Bates — we think it will be a great place for her—and you were instrumental in getting her there.

Even though we came to One Sky for help applying to US boarding school, we got so much more. The idea of their company is help students find themselves, improve themselves and help them grow. In the year of application, One Sky designed personalized classes and planned suitable activities for my son that he enjoyed immensely. They were all linked with one another, to help him gain more experience to write about and speak about in his essays and interviews. During the whole process— school selection, interview prep, or communication with schools after interviews, One Sky teachers were dedicated and caring. Through the application process, my child has learnt and grown a lot.

Since 10th grade, Julia guided my path through high school. She helped me balance my academics with my extracurriculars, offered unique ideas and insights, and made me feel so much more at ease, especially with so much uncertainty during COVID-19. At first, I found writing college essays SO hard, but Julia spent hours and hours with me to help me find my voice to highlight my strengths through essays. What’s more, Julia gave me a lot of power and encouragement, and always followed-up to make sure I was staying on track and meeting deadlines. Through the cooperation with One Sky, I made great progress, such as in my time-management and writing skills.

For me, the One Sky team has not just been a professional partner and support, but also good friends. After the applications were submitted, I didn’t worry about my results, because One Sky had maximized my strengths and helped me do everything I possibly could, so that I could express myself confidently and put my best self forward.

To be honest, the teachers of One Sky supported me a lot! In the early stage of the application process, they made a very detailed timetable for me, and always urged me to complete reading or activity preparation, and gave me detailed feedback. When I started to apply to schools in the second half of 2020, the teachers did a lot of research to help me choose suitable schools, and also guided me to prepare for interviews carefully, through classes and mock interviews. Although the formal interview was sometimes intimidating and difficult, I was able to remain confident thanks to One Sky’s preparation.

Because I attended a public school in Shanghai, I had never had to write so much in English before. Julia helped me brainstorm, understand how to structure and write strories that really show who I am, and encouraged me how to express myself clearly and confidently. I became more brave and courageous, realizing that my own voice was worth hearing and sharing.

My relationship with the One Sky teachers has been harmonious and wonderful! Sometimes I needed to stay up late to write essays or prepare for interviews, but thanks to One Sky teachers’ support and friends’ encouragement, I still enjoyed the journey very much.

Looking back at my application processes, Julia helped SO much:
Julia is fluent in Chinese, extremely familiar with the university application process, and has rich working experience in so many related areas. I had always planned to work directly after graduating from college, and I didn’t change my mind until the end of my junior year, so I was very anxious about the process. I first met her when I was in high school and she helped me apply to university four years ago. Among the many American friends I have, her Chinese is the best. She has no language or cultural barriers in communicating with students and parents.

She communicated closely with me during the application process to quickly understand the schools and determine an appropriate list of schools. I started my school selection in June and talked frequently with her, almost every day. This process not only strengthened my research and determination for my future direction but also made me deeply admire Julia’s strong working spirit. She knows European and American schools very well, so based on her recommendations, I quickly decided on my selected school list. Application essay writing was also very important and I knew I had to integrate both my Chinese and American thinking into it because essays are such a key part of applying. Even while studying in the US for many years, sometimes I still find it hard to express myself clearly that would also meet the expectations of the American and European universities I was applying to. This is one of the shortcomings of many domestic Chinese agents, they only use Chinese thinking to approach international university applications. Julia uses both Chinese and American thinking. She dug deep into my past experiences, guided me on how to best answer the questions, and taught me to read between the lines of what the target school really wants to know about me, and helped to revise grammar problems. She gave me very useful feedback so I was constantly improving on my essays.

The programs I applied to also required interviews and Julia helped me calm down and use the interview as a great opportunity to show my best self. I received an interview invitation shortly after I submitted my applications in October. Although I also did a lot of my own research and adequate preparations, I was still very nervous. In our final interview training, Julia pointed out that the interviewer does not want to see how fluent I am in answering the questions. Instead, what they want to see is who I am. Her sentence woke me up, and totally changed my attitude. She helps also by knowing what it is you need to hear to get on to the next step successfully. I then completed the interview with a relaxed attitude and was successfully admitted to my dream school.

Julia is a great teacher and friend in my life. We trust each other and thanks to her help, I applied successfully to undergraduate four years ago, and graduate school applications this year with ease. I am very grateful to her for her guidance and would highly recommend her to anyone else.

My husband and I learned about Julia through someone else who graduated from Harvard. Julia is running her own company, dedicated to helping students in Asia who are eager to study in the United States achieve their academic goals. At that time, our young daughter was studying in the 9th grade in a US high school, and my husband’s visiting scholar project was coming to an end in the US. This meant that we were about to leave the United States, and our daughter would face the first period of her study life without her parents and alone. Like most children of this age, she is also quite rebellious, has ideas and vision, but lacks self-control and execution. As Chinese parents who think we are not too traditional, although we are willing to help our children, we often turn communication into discipline, which has little effect.

Through contact with her, we feel that she can be called a veritable expert in the field of study abroad consulting. She has a comprehensive understanding of the academic level and professional requirements of universities in the United States. She develops recommendations according to the student’s particular academic interests and learning abilities. In her communication with my daughter, I found that she used a series of methods to understand the personality and behavioral characteristics of her, and constantly helped students discover their interests and abilities in the communication, prompting students to explore their possible future professional direction. Julia’s professionalism, efficiency, and patience have made communication with our children a lot easier. With the guidance and help of Julia, our daughter’s selection of courses and activities throughout high school was more rational, solid, and practical, which also laid a good foundation for the college application process. The application process we first found to be very difficult. Children must not only ensure their GPA, but also prepare for the SAT, and at the same time prepare many application documents, so it was very important to grasp the various times and steps at each phase in the application process. Julia has a very clear arrangement for the whole process. She helps determine the application list, the application preparation needed for each target school, and the writing requirements. She arranges everything well and professionally, and also gave my daughter enough time to think and improve. Julia responds to questions, concerns, and comments very efficiently and thoroughly.

When our daughter received her admission notice from her ED early decision school, we all cheered and we all knew how much help and contribution Julia added to the whole process.
